Ka the Shaking Gravel
Ka The Shaking Gravel (KTSG) is an international, soul-infused rock band based in Vienna, Austria, formed in 2022 by Will Rogers Perlmutter. Will, a talented producer and musician leads an international lineup with members from Austria (Markus), Zimbabwe (Jonathan) and the USA (Will himself).
Will and I met properly a couple of years ago in 2024 while attending a music gig in Vienna. What struck me immediately was the focus and genuine commitment he brings to the stage. It’s intense. The band delivers energetic, no-frills live shows, drawing influence from the likes of Springsteen and Black Pumas.
KTSG describe their music styles as a ‘wall of sound’, a hazy drizzle of soul-infused rock, built on grooves that move through you and carried by powerful live performances.
This early body of work has ignited the start of a profound friendship and photographic journey. My intention is to witness Will and his band doing what they do best, and playing to an audience unhinged, raw, and honest.
Lyall brings forward the essence of his subjects and shows them in their most true form. For us, he captured the energy of the moment for a hungry rock band so that we could share those moments with the world. Working with Lyall is light-hearted, fun and straightforward. He knows what his clients want and executes on their vision flawlessly. From the moment he stepped onto the scene to work with us, I knew I could trust his eye and approach to great photography. He told me that he wanted me to see myself properly for the first time in the act. Not only was the result outstanding, it changed the way I saw myself as a performer. His work has given me further confidence in myself to continue on my journey as a performer.
