A tribute to Stephanie Distl
In the peaceful Wagendorf countryside just outside Vienna lies an equestrian sanctuary where the bond between humans and horses goes beyond simple companionship or utility. It offers a supportive environment for people of all ages and abilities to connect with horses. Stefanie Distl, a remarkable woman, is the guiding spirit of the place. Alongside her husband, Karl, she has transformed it into a thriving haven focusing on the overall wellbeing of both riders and horses.
‘The Land, The Horses, and Her’ captures Stephanie’s world through my lens. Each photograph, emulating the classic look of Kodak Tri-X black and white film, is given a warm paper tint, softening the contrasts, and adding a gentle, nostalgic quality.
Lyall accompanies the everyday life of our non-profit riding and therapy centre with his camera. The pictures that emerge speak a clear and unambiguous language - they tell of all the passion, courage and hope that is not only in this project, but also in the hearts of all the people who take part in it. Lyall, thank you from the bottom of my heart for the pictures, which touch me anew every time I look at them. They tell a story with so much authenticity and provide a deep, personal insight into Reitreff Tullnerfeld!
